About Hellenistic Astrology…
Astrology is an amazing tool to examine the design of your life! The map of the stars above us can connect us to the unfolding of our lives. It can reveal information about career, love and relationships, life direction, the family of origin and more. By opening our eyes to our cosmic connection, we can gain a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us. It can also help us get deeper insight to ourselves and how we interface with the world around us to help with guidance through the challenges of life and how we can learn and grow from them.
I am a graduate of a two-year program in the Nightlight Astrology program which teaches ancient Hellenistic astrology combined with modern evolutionary views incorporating the outer planets and perspectives from Vedic astrology on the houses. I also completed the course from the Hellenistic Astrology school in conjunction with the Nightlight program. I wanted to have a very strong foundation in this ancient practice, so I went for the deep dive.
Ancient Hellenistic astrology was practiced in Greece and Alexandria, Egypt and throughout the Mediterranean roughly 100 BC-200 AD. Over time, it was suppressed for political reasons with bits and pieces being saved by some cultures or resurfacing during the Renaissance. It was this that created what is known as more Modern astrology, a hodge hodge of astrological information priced together into a comprehensive system known as our popular Sun sign based astrology of modern times. It was not until the early 2000s that an astonishing amount of papyrus from Alexandria, Egypt resurfaced from the basement of a library at a university in Belgium. It was a massive collection of ancient writings that anthropologists who were studying astrologers had amassed and due to the wars in Europe, they had disappeared into the archives. Once these documents were discovered and translated, the complete comprehensive of Hellenistic astrology emerged using systems and practices that date back to 5000 BC. It was even discovered that the entire Vedic system of astrology is based in the Hellenistic system.
I was blown away by this system once I started learning about it and how to look at my chart and started viewing the world through this lens. I had the experience of several astrological systems over 20 years, but this is the one that I had been looking for. It does not just explore the nature of the native, but can also show all about the life and it’s unfolding. We can look at the past and present to prepare for possible future events and dive deep into the life finding purpose and meaning. It is one of the most powerful divination tools that I have ever encountered.

Since my teen years, I have been fascinated with astrology. I was raised in a strict religious community, so it was something that I discovered on my own. I believe it was in a doctor’s office magazine, probably a Cosmo, where I first discovered the horoscope section. A little bell went off inside of me, “ding, ding, ding!” From that point on, I started looking for it and reading it whenever I could. This was before the internet, so it was not as common and readily available. The first time had a chart reading was from a woman who actually used an ephemeris and hand drew the chart. She talked about psychology and personality, but never the life. I knew something was missing and I had a lot of questions still. I had my chart read a handful of times in my twenties and thirties by different astrologers, but I felt there was something missing from these readings. The one that came closest was a Chinese astrology chart reading and it at least showed that the life is unfolding in the chart. I kept searching….
It was 5 years ago when I first discovered Hellenistic astrology. This is what I had been looking for! Not only was the astrologer talking about the chart showing aspects of the person but also a clear unfolding of life and timing of events. It had a foretelling ability! I began to study on my own watching the videos and the astrological weather on a regular basis. After about three years of this, I decided to take the courses. I have always seen astrology as a hobby interest. My day job as a bodyworker and acupuncturist seemed separate from this interest. However, the more I have learned and experienced astrology and reading charts for people, the more I see that it too can be an incredibly beautiful and healing experience for people.
My experience of astrological readings is that I am interpreter for the oracle, she has things to say and offers guidance and wisdom for life experiences and life lessons. I was quite surprised and invigorated to find that an intentional and clear reading can help people accept, heal, and integrate very difficult things that have happened and to have hope for the future. Thus, I have felt called to add astrological readings to my repertoire of healing arts.
